2014 Facebook Photo Contest Winners

Our 3rd Annual $5,000 Wedding Rental Photo Contest winners will be celebrating their nuptials in Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH and Cleveland, OH this year. Two weddings will be celebrated in May and the third in August – we can’t wait to see the pictures!

Pittsburgh, PA Winners

Contest-Winner-Announcement-PittsburghRachell Fleeger and Ryan Laidlaw will be getting married August 30, 2014 at the Clinton Presbyterian Church in Freeport, PA with a reception at the Laidlaw River House. Their wedding tagline is “Every Love Story Is Beautiful But Ours Is My Favorite…”  The theme of their wedding will be rustic with 125-150 guests in attendance.  Their wedding colors will be brown and blue.  Rachell and Ryan decided to keep their bridal party small with one maid of honor and one best man.   Some of the vendors that they will use are Sharp Image Studios and a Wedding Solutions DJ.  Rachell’s dress is from Arnella’s Bridal Salon and is a fit and flare style.  Rachell said she heard about the contest from the All Occasions Facebook page.

You received the most votes in your city!  How did you get them?
Rachell: Ryan and I have an amazing group of friends and family that supported us.  To be honest, the contest turned into a real “thing” that many of our family and friends took as much pride in as we did.  I can’t thank them enough or give them enough credit because the support we received from all across Facebook was very humbling.  Even thinking about the answer brings a tear to my eye for the unbelievable support Ryan and I received.

How did you two meet?
Rachell: Through mutual friends.

Tell us your engagement story.  How did it happen?
Rachell: We host a Christmas party every year at our home.  During every party, my fiance has a gift giving presentation.  He gives a gift to everybody in attendance usually on the comical side, although he does put some really nice gifts in too.  It’s impressive considering we have 35-40 people each year.  During our party in 2012, he armed some of his friends with cameras and after he gave out the last gift, he announced he had one more gift he would like to give.  He then turned to me, knelt down, and pulled the ring from his pocket.  The party went crazy when he asked and I said yes.  And since he had his friends film it, we can watch it anytime we want.

How did you choose the engagement ring?  What is the style?
Rachell: Ryan picked a vintage setting and added his late Mother’s diamond.  I love it!

What kind of items will you rent?
Rachell: Tents, tables, chairs…basically everything!

Do either you or his family have traditions that will be incorporated into your wedding?  What are they?
Rachell: My fiance is from a really large traditional Irish family.  There are apparently a couple of customs that his family do during the wedding.  His mother passed away a few years back and we are planning a dance with some of her sisters as well.

What song will you be dancing to as your first dance as husband and wife?
Rachell: Wanted by Hunter Hayes

From Rachell & Ryan
“Thank you all again.  I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful winning this contest is for my dream wedding.  I was excited, as most bride’s are, to be getting married.  Now with this contest, my idea of the wedding is going to be that much better!” Rachell said.

Congratulations Rachell and Ryan, our Pittsburgh PA winners! Watch for Rachell and Ryan to make an appearance in WHIRL Magazine.

Columbus, OH Winners

Contest-Winner-Announcement-ColumbusJenna Montali and Aaron Moore will be getting married May 31, 2014 at Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH where they met with their reception at the Sheraton at Capitol Square in Columbus.  They will be using the following vendors: Brian Harp, John Cover with Reflections Event Group, and Judy Schafer florist. They heard about the contest through Brian Harp, their planner from The Sheraton, who heard about it through Kristin at All Occasions.

Jenna and Aaron will be having 275-300 guests attending their navy and bright pink wedding.  They have a very large wedding party with eight bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen, along with two flower girls.  Her shoes are made by Betsey Johnson “Blue Collection” with a Tiffany blue bottom and her dress is from Demetrio’s Bridal in Cleveland.  It is a strapless, form fitting style with “very sparkly” beaded detail.

You received the most votes in your city!  How did you get them?
Jenna and Aaron: We spent every single night getting votes around Ohio State Campus or Wittenberg University campus, or would message every one of our friends on Facebook for votes.  We e-mailed coworkers, classmates, and family members.  We really did anything and everything to get votes because we knew that every vote counted.  I think all of our friends are probably sick of us by now but we are so grateful for all of the support from everyone that voted for us and made this possible! The work was definitely worth this awesome prize!

Contest Winner Angela Columbus

The Columbus, Ohio, contest winners!

Tell us how you two met.
Jenna and Aaron: Our story began at Wittenberg, where we both went to school.  We didn’t meet until the first semester of our senior year when we were both class officers and in class together.  On Valentine’s Day the following semester, he bought me a “good luck package” for my swim conference with all of my favorite treats.  After the conference we decided to face the music and give dating a whirl.

Jenna and Aaron meeting with Jason, Owner and COO, and Kristin, Columbus Sales Rep.

Tell us your engagement story.  How did it happen?
Aaron: Jenna flew in to Ohio  for the weekend and I knew I wanted to propose at Witt, where we first met.  I told her that I wanted to film “Our story” and make a video.  Our friend Ben was there to film.  I blindfolded her and took her across campus to places that had significance to us.  We ended up at the “kissing bridge” where tradition is that if you kiss on there you are “destined to be together,” and kissed her.  I took her to Myers hall where it said, “Marry me?” in candles and removed the blindfold, was down on one knee, and the rest is history.

How did you choose the engagement ring?  What is the style?
Jenna and Aaron:  Three weeks before Aaron proposed, we were at his cousin’s wedding.  His mom decided to ask me about what I like in rings and I said I like the braided jewelry look and diamonds on the band, and not a square diamond.  Aaron and I were just casually looking at rings but I honestly had NO idea we were looking at rings for an engagement in the near future!

A little champagne toast to celebrate!

Do you have engagement photos?  If so, what photographer did you use?
We took engagement photos in October 2013.  Aaron’s best friend took them.  We wanted to do something comfortable and fun and Justin has a great eye for photos.  It was such an enjoyable experience to share with each other and we were really glad we had someone that knew us as a couple taking our pictures!

What kind of items will you rent?
Chair covers with sash, monogram light for dance floor, and possibly other lighting.  We aren’t sure until we see the warehouse!

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We are going to an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

“We are so excited to have a big wedding with all of our family and friends!” Jenna and Aaron said.

Congratulations Jenna and Aaron, Columbus  contest winners! Keep your eye our for Jenna and Aaron’s debut in Columbus Bride Magazine.

Cleveland, OH Winners

Contest-Winner-Announcement-ClevelandAngela DiIonno and Daniel Westover will be getting married May 23, 2014 at the Heritage Barn. Their wedding tagline is “DANG Wedding”.  They will be having a patriotic, country/ rustic wedding with red, white, and gold as their colors. They will have approximately 175 guests, with six groomsmen, six bridesmaids, two junior bridesmaids, two flower girls and two ring bearers. Some of the vendors they are working with are Famous Dave’s BBQ, DJ Easy B of Buckeye State Entertainment and Amy Pondillo of Amp Image Photography.

Angela’s wedding dress was provided at no cost through a program called Brides Across America that gives wedding gowns to military brides-to-be.  “I was qualified because of Dan’s recent deployment to Afghanistan,” Angela said.  The gown she selected was the first one she tried on; an ivory taffeta one shoulder gown. She will pair them with a pair of dark red Mary-Jane shoes, and admits that she will be sneaking her combat boots on for a bit during the reception.

They heard about the contest from a Facebook friend.

You received the most votes in your city! How did you get them?
Angela: I posted the link and voting reminders several times a day and tagged my fiance so it could be seen to all of his Facebook friends as well.  I also posted in Facebook groups that I am a part of or pages that share our similar interests.  Several of our friends and family were also helpful as they shared our link regularly and requested support from their friends and family!

Tell us how you two met.
Angela and Dan: We met on Facebook thanks to a mutual friend, Dan’s goofiness and Angela being a creeper! “It all began while Dan was still serving overseas in Afghanistan.  Although his days were long and he was incredibly busy being a hero, he still found time for a little funny business. One day he decided to comment a simple “Hi” on photos and posts for a mutual friend between Dan and Angela. All of those comments came up in Angela’s news feed and the comments along with his picture caught her attention. They talked on Skype and Facebook and realized how perfect they would be together. Angela decided to ride along with some of Dan’s friends to meet him at the airport the day he arrived back to Ohio following his deployment.  It was nerve wrecking…but so DANG awesome!”

Contest Winner Angela

Our military winners!

Tell us your engagement story.  How did it happen?
Angela: We went camping for a weekend in the Poconos to run a Warrior Dash. We went on a hiking trail and Dan wanted to go on one with a view. I literally had no idea what he had in mind so i was just skipping around taking photos. He said he was quietly freaking out trying to think of how to do it, like if he should kneel or what and where, but I was just all over the place. Finally he grabbed me and was like “let’s just stop and enjoy the view!” Then he was standing behind me as we looked out on the valley. He put the box in front of me so I would see the ring with the view and whispered, “Will you marry me?” I thought it was a joke at first, but started crying and finally said yes.

Contest Winner Angela 2

The Cleveland, Ohio, contest winners.

Do you have engagement photos?  Tell us about the experience.
Angela: We had a unique engagement photo session with AMP Image Photography. They came to Dan’s family farm property in Lisbon, Ohio. Being on farm, we had really beautiful and special scenery and were able to get real creative. We got out the big guns- Literally! They took a few action photos of us live firing with our individual pistols. They also got some great photos of us live firing with our pistols. The session concluded with some photos by the lake where both of us wore our Army Combat uniforms.

Contest Winner Angela at Todays Bride

Contest winners at Today’s Bride Magazine, Cleveland, Ohio

What kind of items are you interested in renting?
Angela and Dan: Linens, tables, outdoor chairs, indoor chairs, flatware, glassware, and outdoor lights.

Where will you be going on your honeymoon?
Angela: We are going to begin our honeymoon in Germany.  Dan has family there and this will be an opportunity to meet and visit them.  From there, we are hoping to take a little backpacking adventure to visit Italy and Croatia.

What song will you be dancing to as your first dance as husband and wife?
Angela and Dan: The first dance song is a surprise to the bride!  The groom has selected a song and I will not find out until that special moment.

Congratulations Angela and Dan, Cleveland contest winners! These two will be seen in Today’s Bride Magazine, so keep an eye out!

We are excited to be a part of all of these unique weddings in the near future!  Thank you to all of the contestants and everyone who was a part of this year’s 2014 Facebook Photo “Keep the Memories…Return Everything Else Contest!
